Subsoiling boosts winter wheat yields and soil moisture in Luoyang fields
The study looked at different ways of preparing soil for planting winter wheat in Luoyang. They compared reduced tillage, no-tillage, subsoiling, and conventional tillage. No-tillage and subsoiling improved soil moisture before planting compared to conventional tillage. Subsoiling resulted in the highest crop yields and water use efficiency, followed by no-tillage and reduced tillage. Therefore, subsoiling is recommended for farmers in Luoyang to improve their winter wheat crops.
