High sulfur and nitrogen combo boosts wheat yield and delays leaf aging.
The study looked at how combining sulfur and nitrogen fertilizers affects nitrogen transfer and leaf aging in different types of wheat. They found that the right balance of nitrogen and sulfur can either help or hinder wheat growth, depending on the levels used. With higher nitrogen levels, sulfur can improve nitrogen uptake, leaf aging, and overall yield. Stay-green wheat varieties benefit more from high nitrogen and sulfur levels, while non-stay-green wheat varieties show delayed aging with these fertilizers. The optimal amounts for high yield were around 220 kg/ha of nitrogen and 60 kg/ha of sulfur.
