Later sowing and harvest boosts crop yield and resource efficiency by 16%
The study looked at how planting winter wheat and harvesting summer maize later in the season can increase crop yield and use resources more efficiently. By planting winter wheat later, the yield increased by 16%, and the use of rainfall and temperature was more efficient. Harvesting summer maize later also led to higher yields and better resource use. Overall, the later-cropping system showed good performance in increasing grain yield and resource efficiency.
