This study looked at how water is used in the Jingtaichuan irrigation system in Gansu. The researchers examined how water is currently being used for electricity and irrigation, and then figured out how much water is running off and being used in the irrigation area. By doing this, they could analyze if water use in the irrigation system is balanced. The study found that some main issues with water use in this irrigation system became clear after analyzing the water balance.
