Jurassic fault basin reveals diverse sedimentary facies shaping ancient landscapes.
The Jurassic fault basin in southwest Tarim Depression formed due to movements in the Earth's crust. Researchers found 19 types of rock layers and 5 types of sediment layers in the basin. The main types of sediment were from rivers and lakes, with different types forming at different times. The basin had steep rocks in the west and gentle rocks in the east.
