The notes on Analects of Confucius by Zhengxuan, written in Donghan Dynasty, were lost but some copies from Tang Dynasty were found in the 20th century. These copies contain different explanations and commentaries on Analects, shedding light on Han Dynasty and Zhengxuan's study. By comparing Zheng's notes with the traditional ones, it is clear that they reflect features of Confucianist classics from before the Qin Dynasty.
