During the Ming-qing period, the Miao people in Yunnan and Guizhou saw changes in their society. The government sent new officials to control the area, leading to a shift from a feudal economy of lordship to one of landlordship. This change brought in Han people who introduced advanced farming tools and techniques, improving the agricultural economy and promoting cultural exchange among different groups.
