The concept of Shen Ming, which refers to spiritual brightness, was explored in ancient Chinese philosophy. Scholars in the pre-Qin and Han dynasties believed that Shen Ming was related to the moral order of the universe and played a role in creativity. Xun Zi, a philosopher from the same period, also discussed Shen Ming as a product of Dao, similar to Daoist beliefs. He connected Shen Ming to the cultivation of the mind and ethical behavior. This research shows how ancient Chinese thinkers viewed Shen Ming as a fundamental aspect of the natural and moral order of the world.
