Unstable Tumenzi Landslide in Three Gorges Reservoir Area Threatens Nearby Communities
The Tumenzi landslide in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area is experiencing ongoing deformation since 1992, causing damage to nearby roads and houses. The landslide is currently in a state of creep deformation with some sliding, mainly triggered by heavy rainfall. The continuous heavy rain pushes the landslide to the brink of collapse, posing a risk of complete failure along multiple shear openings.
