Rice panicle study reveals key to healthier grains and weight distribution
The researchers studied the differences in grain weight and resistant starch content in rice panicles with loose and compact structures. They found that grains on primary branches had higher grain weight and resistant starch content compared to grains on secondary branches. In loose panicles, middle grains had the highest resistant starch content, while in compact panicles, basal grains had the highest content. Upper grains generally had higher resistant starch content, while bottom grains had higher grain weight.
