Optimizing nitrogen levels boosts rice yield and quality in dry nursery seedlings.
The study looked at how different levels of nitrogen affected the growth and yield of rice seedlings in the field. They used two types of rice plants and found that adding more nitrogen increased root growth and nitrogen uptake in one type of rice, but too much nitrogen hurt growth in the other type. Dry seedlings had better root activity and nitrogen uptake compared to moist seedlings. The number of tillers in the rice plants increased rapidly at first, then slowed down. Overall, the key to increasing yield in dry seedlings was to increase the weight of each grain.
