New study reveals key factors driving soil salinity around Bohai Sea
The study looked at soil salinity around the Bohai Sea low plain. They used geostatistical methods and GIS technology to analyze the distribution and factors affecting soil salinity. The results showed that soil salinity varies a lot on the surface but less in deeper layers. The main factors influencing soil salinity are soluble salts, soil alkalization, and the source of salt. Chloride and sulfate soluble salts are the main contributors to high soil salinity, while alkalinity and pH affect salt content in the soil. Groundwater levels and TDS play a role in the accumulation of salt in the soil.
