The researchers studied the Shahejie Formation in Liaoxi Depression and identified five sequences without any gaps between them. Different types of sedimentary environments were found, like fan deltas and beach-bars. They also discovered favorable sand bodies in lowstand areas near uplifts and deep water gravity flow sand in sub-sags. These sand bodies, along with surrounding mudstones and shales, can create good reservoirs in uplifts, slopes, and faults.
