Optimizing Nitrogen Application Boosts Rice Yield and Improves Food Security.
The study looked at how different amounts and timing of nitrogen fertilizer affect the growth and yield of rice. They found that using too much base fertilizer can lead to excessive vegetative growth, while higher amounts of tillering and panicle fertilizer can help balance vegetative and reproductive growth. By adjusting the fertilizer proportions, they were able to increase the number of filled grains per panicle and the weight of 1000 grains, ultimately improving the rice yield. The best results were seen when nitrogen was applied as base, tillering, and panicle fertilizer together.
