Diyinongchang Reservoir's Phytoplankton Shifts Could Impact Ecosystem Balance
A study was conducted on Diyinongchang Reservoir in Xinjiang to understand the types of phytoplankton living there. The researchers found 75 different species of phytoplankton, with green algae and diatoms being the most common. The dominant species varied depending on the season, with different species thriving in normal, dry, and wet seasons. The researchers also discovered that the temperature of the reservoir influenced the types and abundance of phytoplankton present. Overall, the study showed that the phytoplankton community in Diyinongchang Reservoir changes throughout the year and is closely linked to environmental conditions.
