Rising flood levels in Yangtze River causing increased flood control challenges.
In the past 40 years, flood water levels in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River have been higher and lasted longer, causing concerns for flood control. By comparing data from major hydrological stations, researchers found changes in flood volume, highest water levels, and days exceeding warning levels. Factors like water flow from upstream and tides from the East China Sea were analyzed to understand the frequent high water levels in recent years.
