Shihezi's ecological footprint exceeds its bio-capacity, revealing an unsustainable future for the region.
The researchers analyzed the ecological footprint of Shihezi using a model. They found that in 2008, each person's ecological footprint was 2.477327 hectares, while the ecological carrying capacity was 1.500542 hectares per person. This resulted in an ecological deficit of 0.976785 hectares per person, indicating that the region's human impact exceeded its natural capacity, making it unsustainable.
