Climate change leads to significant increase in runoff in rümqi River.
The runoff in the rümqi River Basin has been increasing since the 1980s. This is mainly due to more precipitation in the area. The Glacier No.1 and Yingxunqiao Hydrologic Stations have shown a clear rise in runoff, especially after 1987. The Glacier No.1 station had a significant shift in 1997. The increase in runoff is caused by more rain and snow in the region. The Glacier No.1 station's runoff change is due to increased precipitation and glacier melting.
