Optimal nitrogen application boosts winter wheat yield and soil health.
The researchers studied how different amounts and ratios of nitrogen fertilizer affect the yield and quality of winter wheat, as well as the nitrogen content in the soil. They found that applying the right amount of nitrogen fertilizer can significantly increase grain yield and protein yield. A nitrogen amount of 180 kg·hm-2 with a 1∶3∶2 dressing ratio was the best for promoting both yield and soil nitrogen balance in this region.
