Groundwater in China sourced from snow melting and rainfall, study finds.
The study looked at water in Yanqi Basin using isotopes to figure out where it comes from. They found that the water in the area mainly comes from melted snow and rain. The groundwater and stream water interact with each other, with deep groundwater mostly coming from stream water and shallow groundwater from irrigation water. The water in the area forms one big system because the groundwater and surface water are closely connected.
