Boosting Rural Incomes Unlocks Information Access for China's Underserved
Information consumption is important for economic growth in rural China. A study analyzed data from 2003-2009 to understand how rural residents spend on information. Results show a link between income and information spending. Transportation and communication are the top areas for information spending. Low-income households still lack basic information needs. Suggestions include increasing income, improving information infrastructure, and enhancing social security in rural areas.
