Nitrogen Fertilizer Boosts Soil Nitrate Levels, Enhancing Maize Growth.
The study looked at how different amounts of nitrogen fertilizer affected the levels of nitrate in the soil while growing maize. They found that adding nitrogen increased nitrate levels in the top 40 cm of soil, especially during the late growth period of the corn. In the 40-60 cm layer of soil, nitrogen had a significant impact on nitrate levels during the grain filling stage.
