Drought-resistant millet varieties offer hope for food security in dry regions
The researchers studied how different types of millet seeds respond to drought stress to find varieties that can withstand dry conditions. They tested twenty millet varieties by simulating drought with a PEG solution and measured factors like germination rate and seedling growth. They found that certain indicators, like vigor index and seedling length, can predict drought resistance in millet. Some varieties, like Changnong40 and Jinzhong 208, showed better drought resistance compared to others.
