Revolutionizing rice farming: Boosting yields in salty soils with targeted fertilizer.
The study looked at how applying nitrogen fertilizer at different stages of rice growth affects yield and stomatal conductance in salty, alkaline soil. By applying fertilizer at specific leaf stages, researchers found an increase in tiller spike rate, panicle number, and spikelets per area. This led to better rice quality, higher chlorophyll content, and improved photosynthesis. The study showed that applying fertilizer at the right time can increase dry matter yield and overall yield, with a nitrogen utilization efficiency of 37.4%.
