Decrease in River Sediment Supply Threatens Coastal Stability in China.
The study looked at how a decrease in sediment from the Changjiang River affects the coastal area of Chongming Island. By analyzing data from 1977 to 2004, researchers found that the land was not growing as quickly due to less sediment. However, the response was complex because of ocean currents and local geography, leading to some areas showing different trends. Overall, the future of the area's evolution was predicted based on these findings.
