New method reveals clear ecological gradients in plant communities.
A new method called DCCA Ordination Axes Clustering (OAC) was used to classify plant communities in Shanxi Province. Five different types of communities were identified based on environmental factors. The method showed clear differences in community structure and environment among the types. Axis 1 represents warm and dry gradients, while axis 2 shows cold and wet gradients. The method effectively shows the spatial gradients of communities in the area and can remove certain effects to better relate environmental factors. Overall, the new method is advantageous for studying the relationships between plant communities and their environment.
