Adding wheat straw to sheep manure speeds up composting process.
The study looked at how adding wheat straw to sheep manure affects the composting process. The researchers found that adding wheat straw can speed up the high-temperature composting of sheep manure, reduce nitrogen loss, and help balance the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio. During composting, the high-temperature fermentation layer spreads from the middle upwards and downwards. The content of phosphorus, potassium, and nitrogen in the compost increased by the end of the process, with the 6:4 ratio of sheep manure to wheat straw showing the highest increase. Composting sheep manure with wheat straw in a 6:4 ratio is the most effective, with compost reaching maturity in just 28 days.
