Heavy metals in Yellow River sediment pose indirect hazard, accumulating pollution.
The study looked at how heavy metals like copper, lead, zinc, cadmium, and chromium are spread in the sediment of the Yellow River in Baotou. They found that these metals have different levels of being harmful in the sediment at different depths. The heavy metals have built up in the sediment over time. Surprisingly, the metals are more harmful indirectly than directly in the sediment.
