Yuan Dynasty scholars blend Zhu and Lu theories, revolutionizing Confucianism.
During the early Yuan Dynasty, Confucian scholars in the Xin'an school heavily followed Zhu Xi's teachings, but this led to some misinterpretations. A new generation of scholars, including Zhu Sheng, Zheng Yu, and Zhao Wei, started combining Zhu Xi's and Lu Jiuyuan's theories. They believed that Lu's idea of following truth within one's heart could correct the mistakes made by Zhu scholars. This shift marked a turning point in Xin'an Confucianism, emphasizing the importance of balancing knowledge and morality.
