New zinc leaching process boosts efficiency, reduces environmental impact.
Researchers studied how to extract zinc from high-iron zinc dust using sulfuric acid. They tested different factors like acid concentration, liquid-to-solid ratio, time, and temperature. The best conditions for leaching were found to be 150 g/L sulfuric acid, 7:1 liquid-to-solid ratio, 90°C temperature, and 3 hours of leaching. With these settings, 95% of the zinc was successfully extracted.
