Conventional tillage outperforms reduced tillage for higher crop yield.
Tillage management affects soil water content, corn yield, and water use efficiency in Northeast China. No-tillage (NT) and reduced tillage (RT) increased soil water content compared to conventional tillage (CT). NT had lower corn yield and water use efficiency than CT and RT. RT had the highest evapotranspiration during the growing season. In this region, CT is the best practice for higher corn yield and water use efficiency in arable black soil cropping systems.
