New technology predicts distribution of valuable igneous rock reservoirs.
The researchers aimed to identify and predict the lithology of igneous rocks in Changling No.1 Gas Field. They used data from core samples, imaging well logging, and neural network technology to create a model for interpreting lithofacies. By combining deterministic and stochastic modeling, they developed a 3-D model of the distribution of igneous rock lithofacies. This model helped predict the spatial distribution of lithology in the reservoirs, which is crucial for their development.
