New oilfield discovery reveals prime reservoir rocks in Gaskule Basin!
The researchers studied the sedimentary characteristics of an anastomosing river delta in the Gaskule oilfield. They identified six main types of sediment layers, including braided channels and distributary mouth bars. By comparing this delta to a braided river delta, they developed a sedimentary model for anastomosing river deltas. The distributary mouth bar and distal bar were found to be the most important reservoir rocks in the area.
