Selenium application boosts absorption and transformation in Cardamine violifolia.
A study looked at how adding selenium to Cardamine violifolia plants affected selenium absorption. They used Na2SeO3 and selenium ore powders in a pot experiment. Results showed that selenium levels in the plants increased after selenium application. When selenium levels were low, using selenium ore powders was better than Na2SeO3. But when levels were high, Na2SeO3 was more effective. Using selenium ore powders improved the ratio of inorganic to organic selenium in the leaves. Proper selenium application increased selenium availability in the soil. Na2SeO3 increased ligand-exchangeable selenium in the soil, while selenium ore powders increased residual selenium.
