East China Leads in High-Tech Innovation Efficiency, Boosting Total Productivity
The study looked at how efficient research and development (R&D) innovation is in China's high-tech industry. They used data from 28 regions in China from 2000 to 2008 to analyze this. The results showed that the efficiency of R&D innovation varies among regions, with the eastern regions being more efficient than the middle and western regions. Overall, the total factor productivity and technology progress in the high-tech industry are increasing. Most provinces saw a higher growth in technology progress compared to total factor productivity. Technology progress was found to be the main reason for the growth in total factor productivity, but there wasn't a significant improvement in efficiency.
