The wire-line coring technique was successfully applied to large-diameter deep drilling in sedimentary strata by increasing the gap between hole and drill tools and using oil drilling technology. A test at a 2630m depth salt mine showed that this approach is feasible, cost-effective, safe, and reliable. By enhancing pump capacity and enlarging the gap between hole and drill tools, drilling efficiency can be significantly improved.
