Coastline of Abandoned Yellow River Delta Shifting Dramatically Due to Human Activities.
The researchers analyzed changes in the coastline of the Abandoned Yellow River delta in Northern Jiangsu from 1989 to 2010 using satellite images. They found that different sections of the coastline experienced varying rates of erosion and siltation, with the southern part showing the highest erosion intensity. Factors like coastal shape, water movements, and human activities like construction influenced these changes. The northern section saw alternating erosion and siltation, while the middle section had a consistent erosion rate. The southern section showed a mix of rapid siltation, decreasing siltation, and general balance over the years.
