Saline-alkaline ponds reveal key factors for thriving aquatic plant life.
Aquatic macrophytes in saline-alkaline ponds were studied in Zhaodian Fish Farm, Gaoqing County, Shandong Province. The researchers found 12 different plant species, with common ones like Potamogeton crispus and Phragmites communis. Ponds with grass had higher transparency and pH levels, and lower nutrient levels compared to ponds without grass. The primary productivity of aquatic plants like P. crispus and Z. palustris was influenced by factors like salinity and alkalinity. These plants can help control harmful algae in fish ponds.
