Yunnan's water resources face alarming ecological imbalance, with production demands outpacing sustainable capacity.
In Yunnan Province, the researchers looked at how much water is used compared to how much is available in nature. They found that over the past ten years, the region's ability to support this water use has fluctuated a lot. Despite this, the overall water usage remained stable. On average, each person used up around 0.53 to 0.57 hectares of water resources. While the water footprint for economic activities decreased over time, the largest impact came from production water usage. This shows that how water is used for making things has the biggest influence on the environment, compared to other uses.
