A new type of maize called Luoxiangyu No.1 was created by combining different varieties of maize. It was developed by two agriculture research institutes. This maize grows quickly, is resistant to diseases, and can adapt to different environments. From 1996 to 2003, it consistently produced high yields of good quality maize in experiments in Henan and Hunan provinces. It takes about 90 days to mature in the summer and 105 days in the spring. It can be grown in both summer and spring corn-growing regions.
