New Coagulation Method Removes Algae, Improving Water Quality Dramatically
Researchers conducted an experiment to remove algae from polluted water using a special chemical called polymeric aluminum ferric chloride. They found that adding 15mg/L of this chemical to the water was most effective, removing 94.67% of turbidity and 80.15% of chlorophyll a. The pH of the water didn't need adjusting, and adding a flocculent called JY-01 improved the removal of pollutants. When 0.3mg/L of JY-01 was used, the removal of chlorophyll a increased by 12.9%.
