Riverbed Changes Threaten Navigation in Yangtze Estuary Upstream
The study analyzed how the riverbed of the Fujiangsha river section near the Yangtze Estuary has changed recently. They looked at the development of the Fujiangsha shoal, the stability of the south branch, and the shifting of the main channel in the north branch. The results showed that the tail of the shoal is still developing, the south branch is relatively stable, and the main channel in the north branch is shifting over time. This information will be important for future efforts to regulate the river to keep the north branch navigable.
