New study reveals optimal soil sampling for improved irrigation efficiency.
The study looked at soil water and salt levels in a newly-reclaimed area. They used data from 150 sampling points to analyze the variability of these levels. The researchers found that both soil electrical conductivity and soil water content have a structured variability pattern. The maximum distances over which these levels are related are 9 meters for conductivity and 6.4 meters for water content. The patterns of variability can be described by simple linear models.
