New Rice Cultivation Technique Boosts Yield and Quality of Core Seeds
Directional cultivation techniques for late tillers of TGMS rice lines were studied to improve seed production. Older seedlings with fewer tillers and more dressing fertilizer led to more late-tillering panicles in both P88S and Zhun S rice varieties. Planting 7-8 day old seedlings with one tiller resulted in the highest number of late tillers. Using less basal fertilizer and more dressing fertilizer increased the tillering rate. These findings suggest that cultivating older seedlings with fewer tillers and adjusting fertilizer application can help produce multi-layer panicle structures in TGMS rice lines.
