The study explores the landscape paintings of Dong Yuan and their influence on the Nanzong painting model. Dong Yuan's work, considered the foundation of the Nanzong model, aligns with the naturalistic approach prevalent during the Sui and Tang Dynasties. While Dong Yuan's paintings may not fully embody the values of later scholars' painting, his model captures the essence and emotional connection to nature that defines scholars' painting, characterized by freehand brushwork and expressive display.
