Soil fertility in Hunan tobacco-growing areas classified into four grades.
The researchers analyzed soil fertility in Yongshun tobacco-growing areas of Hunan province by studying 19 soil nutrient indexes. They used principal component analysis to calculate the weight of each index and determine the integrated fertility index (IFI) for each soil sample. Results showed significant variation in soil fertility, with IFI values ranging from 0.341 to 0.730. The soil samples were classified into four grades: higher, high, medium, and low.
