Polluted Lake Threatens Nearby Communities, Urgent Action Needed
The scientists investigated Changdang Lake for pollution and eutrophication. They found that pollutants from sediment contribute significantly to the lake's contamination. Specifically, 16% of COD, 25% of TN, and 21% of TP pollution came from the lake bed. This input from the sediment has worsened the lake's eutrophic state. The western and southern parts are already in a troubling eutrophication status, with high levels of TN and TP in the lake's center. To combat this issue, the researchers suggested some measures to safeguard the lake's health.
