Revolutionary sulphur-burning plant slashes emissions, cleans air for communities.
The tail gas absorption system in a sulphuric acid plant was designed to reduce harmful emissions. By using ammonia from an ammonia plant, the system successfully controlled SO2 levels in stack gas and minimized ammonia escaping. The system achieved an SO2 absorption efficiency of about 85% and maintained low pressure drop. The key findings show that the system effectively reduced SO2 concentration in the stack gas while keeping ammonia escaping within acceptable limits.
