Yellow River Experiment Successfully Improves Sediment Regulation and River Scouring
The Yellow River Conservancy Commission conducted water and sediment regulations from 2002 to 2004. By analyzing changes in sediment grain size in the Xiaolangdi reservoir and lower Yellow River channel, it was found that releasing fine sediment and retaining coarse sediment in the reservoir helps reduce siltation and transport fine sediment to the Bohai sea. The average particle size of suspended sediment in the lower Yellow River is increasing. Overall, the experiment successfully cleaned the river channel.
