Miners Safely Tunnel Over 1,000 Meters Deep, Unlocking Vast Coal Reserves
The scientists studied how to mine thick coal layers in deep, steep mines more safely and efficiently. They tested different methods using simulations and actual mining sites. By doing this, they figured out the best way to mine these coal deposits – a process called fully mechanized top coal caving. This method involves two mining operations and a coal caving operation. They also learned how to deal with the pressure from the mine layers during mining. This research helps make coal mining in deep, steep areas better and safer.
